Grey hair is the bogeyman of many women, but also men. Sometimes they appear sooner than you would expect. People then panic, wondering how to get rid of them, or whether to give up and stay with their color, so that nature can simply deal with it. Yet we all have a helper at home who can take care of grey hair without fail. But few people know that bay leaves can work wonders in this regard.
The bay leaf helps against grey hair, but also with many other hair problems. Many people think that it is just an ingredient we can do without in the kitchen, but in fact, this miracle herb also belongs in cosmetics. Get rid of complications with its help and you too.
Bay leaves contain antioxidants, vitamins (A, C, B6) and minerals (especially iron). Thanks to this, they contribute to hair pigmentation and stimulate blood microcirculation. The substances in them promote the production of melanin, so when you use products made from them, you maintain the natural color of your hair for a long time and gray hair doesn’t stand a chance.
But besides that, the herb also helps with fighting dandruff, softens the hair, gives it shine and prevents hair loss. The bay leaves help flush out negative particles from the scalp and nourish the hair roots.
However, experts state that they are best against gray hair as a prevention. If you’re already struggling with them, you probably won’t see results right away. Bay leaves do not serve as a topical solution to the problem, but rather help in the long term. If you use products made from them regularly, grey hair won’t stand a chance, but don’t expect miracles within two days.
If you want to prepare a simple decoction, it is very easy. Pour 4 cups of boiling water over about 15 dry bay leaves and leave them to infuse for 20 minutes. Let the mixture cool and then gently massage it into your skin, ideally just after washing your head with a regular shampoo. Leave it on for about 40 minutes.
If you repeat this process about three times a week, you’ll see visible results in just four weeks. Grey hairs may not be the only problem you’re struggling with. Add a few cloves to the decoction as well and you’ll be surprised at how your hair texture improves. Plus, this will give the whole mixture a lovely scent.
