I like turmeric. It found a place in my kitchen after I was looking for a guaranteed natural remedy for colds, which I can also drink as a preventive. I discovered golden milk and fell quite in love with it. It is a drink made of milk, butter, honey, cinnamon, pepper and turmeric. It sounds crazy, but it tastes really divine. It actually doesn’t surprise me that turmeric would be a good ingredient for coffee as well.

How to prepare

Anyone can make coffee with turmeric. In fact, it’s just a matter of adding a pinch of the spice to freshly brewed coffee. It doesn’t matter if you’re making espresso or instant coffee. The important thing is not to overdo it with turmeric. Usually about half a teaspoon is enough. If you prefer stronger flavours, you can add more. And what do you actually get? A hot drink with an original taste that will also have health benefits.

However, it must be said that the absorption of valuable substances from turmeric in the body is relatively low. If you add fat and pepper (like in golden milk), it will increase the amount of curcumin that the body can use. It is therefore a good idea to add a little more fat and pepper to your coffee. You’ll see that you’ll like it, as crazy as it sounds at first.

Introducing turmeric

Turmeric is known for its yellow colour. It is an essential part of Indian cuisine and is used in traditional medicine. Its main ingredient is curcumin. It has potential anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and analgesic properties. In addition, it is also said to have rejuvenating effects.

Health benefits of turmeric coffee

Thanks to curcumin and other curcuminoids, coffee with turmeric offers many health benefits. These include a reduction in chronic inflammation, which is associated with the development of chronic diseases such as cancer, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, mental decline and some digestive disorders.

Not forgetting the antioxidant properties. Curcumin can neutralize free radicals, excessive amounts of which lead to cell damage. In addition, turmeric also supports the body’s immune system by reducing inflammation. It basically doesn’t matter if you pour it into your coffee and add more fat or make golden milk. The effect of this spice is the same.

Spices for coffee

Did you know that you can also add other spices to your coffee? Spices suitable for baking work great. Cinnamon is probably the most well-known, but it is also interesting to try cloves, nutmeg, cardamom or even ginger. You can experiment with different combinations. And don’t be afraid to add a pinch of salt. Sounds strange, doesn’t it? Salty coffee. But salt helps balance the bitterness and enhances the sweetness.

Do you like chocolate-flavored coffee? Try cocoa beans, which add a natural chocolate flavor without the sweetness of sugar syrups. Cacao is full of antioxidants, magnesium and mood-enhancing compounds, making it a delicious and healthy addition to your morning coffee. Feel free to add a pinch of turmeric to your cocoa. Enjoy your delicious coffee in a different way.
