Aliens have been a part of science fiction stories and films for decades, showing that there could be other life in the universe. Yet in our subconscious minds, they are still fictional characters and events that we usually don’t consider real. But what if there really is an alien species living with us in outer space? If it were to invade, you probably wouldn’t even know what to do at that point.
In our imaginations, aliens are seen as dangerous creatures coming to colonize Earth, experiment on humans, or even wipe them out. On the other hand, the question arises whether they might have peaceful goals. But how would we know of their intentions and how would they take over our planet?
Guidance communications
Let’s imagine one scenario. The SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) system would be a reliable way to intercept the signal of an alien craft. In such a case, the leaders of the countries would then quickly gather and commission scientists to examine the signal in secret. Governments would begin preparations for a possible invasion, but their activity would be detected as soon as alien craft appeared in the sky. This invasion would attract countless scientists and linguists who would try to understand the aliens or find a way to communicate with them.

Efforts to prevent an alien invasion have long been underway. In the 1970s, NASA sent two golden plates into space aboard the Voyager probes, with words, letters and a diagram of the human body. The idea was to let any alien species know that we were not the enemy.
A positive scenario
If indeed the aliens turned out to be real, the best case scenario for a peaceful and positive encounter could occur. They would function to help improve human behavior or the environment. At the same time, they could share their knowledge and advanced technology. Exchange of resources that are essential for life would also come into consideration. A new cosmic friendship would be forged.
Invasion
The way of peace sounds great, but what if the aliens are looking for invasion, fighting and blood? In that case, the military would have to step in and conflict would ensue. Either the invasion would be suppressed in space, or the fighting would move to Earth. But the consequences could be devastating and life-threatening.
Surrender or fight?
If the aliens had the technology to destroy the planet or wipe out humanity, there would be only one option: surrender and lay down your arms. Moreover, such an invasion would come out of the blue, and humanity would probably not even be sufficiently prepared for such an event. From a scientific point of view, it would not win the war, and its chances of survival would only increase if it surrendered. But that would mean that we would become their slaves or puppets. And our future? Probably not a pleasant one.
But for now, you can sleep soundly. Even though unidentified objects are appearing in the sky, the risk of a visit from space is minimal for now. Scientists say it’s even less than a large asteroid hitting Earth.
