Paper towels have been a staple in my household for years. I’ve used them for cleaning, polishing windows, drying, greaseproofing and many other activities as needed. However, I recently discovered another alternative that suits my needs much better.
I’m sure you know, whether in the kitchen or anywhere in the home, having paper towels on hand was a clear win. You spill liquid, the kids spill something or a glass leaves a circle on the table. You automatically reach for the paper towels. Not surprisingly, their versatility and affordability made them great household helpers. As a result, I haven’t given up on them in years, and although I still use them, I turn to a more economical and practical option more often.
The more I used them, the more I noticed how quickly they were disappearing. I remember one moment when I managed to spill my soup. Without thinking, I reached for the paper towels, but then realized I had used up almost half the roll. That’s when I realized that their large consumption was unnecessary. This impulse made me think differently. More sustainable and more economical.

Sustainable types of wipes have been gaining a lot of traction on the scene in recent years, especially among those who follow the zero waste trend. According to available data and forecasts, their popularity is steadily increasing, indicating a shift in consumer preferences towards greener and more economical solutions. Statistics indicate that one set of reusable wipes can replace approximately 30 to 65 rolls of paper towels.
If you too are looking for an economical solution, you should try reusable microfiber towels. And why do I love them so much? They stand out for their practical features that are great for the home. Not only are they lightweight, they are also easy to wash and ready for a variety of functions. The icing on the cake is the much higher absorption. Whether I’m cleaning surfaces, wiping down dishes or need to absorb liquids and various dirt, I know I have them available at all times without having to constantly think about refilling them.
If I were to briefly summarize the main benefits of microfiber cloths that I appreciate when cleaning and other activities, they are as follows. They suck up water and grease, are gentle on all surfaces, don’t leave streaks, trap dust and bacteria, and most importantly, replace dozens to hundreds of paper towels. And although I now prefer this type of wipe, I keep paper towels stashed away for Uncle Favour at all times. A certainty is a certainty.
